John Scott Wedemeyer, born July 20, 1964, in Rockingham, North Carolina, is a decorated Marine Corps veteran and one of the most accomplished F/A-18 Hornet pilots in U.S. military history. A graduate of The Citadel, he served 20 years in the Marine Corps, completing five combat tours and logging over 4,700 flight hours. Recognized as a Distinguished Naval Flight School Graduate, John finished first in his class in four different aircraft platforms—a rare achievement. His leadership earned him numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, multiple Air Medals, and five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals. Since retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, he has continued contributing to the aviation community, while enjoying golf, fishing, and the outdoors.
